Roll Mechanic / Millwright
Location: Ruston, Louisiana
Job Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire
Pay Range: $20.00 – $25.00+ per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview:
A well-established manufacturing facility in Ruston, LA is seeking a skilled Roll Mechanic / Millwright to support their maintenance and repair operations. This position is responsible for the full disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of paper machine rolls of various sizes. Ideal candidates will bring a strong mechanical background, knowledge of industrial tooling and repair processes, and experience working with large equipment in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Schedule & Shifts:
- Training Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- After training, candidates must be available to move to 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM) or 3rd Shift (10:00 PM – 5:00 AM) as needed
- Full-time hours with some flexibility required for shift changes based on business needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, inspect, disassemble, repair, and reassemble paper machine rolls
- Follow detailed repair procedures and adhere to safety and quality standards
- Operate a 25-ton overhead crane to safely lift and move heavy machinery
- Use mechanical tooling including drills, taps, pullers, bearing heaters, and hydraulic presses
- Interpret maintenance protocols and complete accurate repair documentation
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing equipment, particularly in the paper industry
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant mechanical repair experience required
- Experience in roll repair or Millwright work strongly preferred
- Proficiency in the use of overhead cranes, forklifts, and mechanical hand tools
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred (extensive hands-on experience may be considered in place of education)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with heavy industrial environments
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy components safely and consistently
